ITINERARY

DAY 1

DESTINATION: Sossusvlei

Programme : Meet your pilot at Windhoek (Eros) and commence on a scenic flight along the Naukluft mountains to the Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp. Board a short transfer to the Camp where you check in and spend the remainder of the morning at leisure (i.e. in your own private plunge pool), before having a light lunch. In the later afternoon as the air cools down, enjoy a guided walk in the immediate vicinity of the Camp, or join a scenic drive. Sundowners at the "Barking Gecko" pub or on the deck precede a delicious dinner.

DAY 2

DESTINATION: Sossusvlei/NamibRand Nature Reserve

Programme : Awake early for a dawn departure with the Wilderness shuttle to the towering dunes of Sossusvlei. Visit and climb the highest dunes in the world, returning to the Lodge for lunch.

The afternoon is spent at your leisure - relax at the pool, watch the myriad birds, insects and often animals that live in the area and soak in your incredible surroundings, from the deck of your private chalet with plunge pool. Dinner on the deck in the evening is   a relaxed event with our hosts and the other guests.

DAY 3

DESTINATION: Sossusvlei/NamibRand Nature Reserve

Programme : After a quiet breakfast, join a scheduled morning transfer/scenic drive towards Wolwedans, situated in the heart of the Namib-Rand Nature Reserve. Arrive at Wolwedans Dunes Lodge in the mid-morning and book into your beautiful chalet with its own private verandah and a breathtaking view of the dunes, plains and distant mountains before lunch. After a siesta, join everyone for coffee/cake before a wonderful sundowner drive with drinks at the top of a rust-red dune ! Return to Freshen up and join everyone for sundowners on the deck before you enjoy a three-course candlelight dinner under a blanket of 1 000 000 stars !

DAY 3

DESTINATION: NamibRand Nature Reserve

Programme : Absorb the unique NamibRand Nature Reserve landscape during a morning and afternoon excursion by Landrover through the dunes, endless grassy plains and along mystical mountain formations. You could encounter large and small desert animals, learn about their unique habits and explore the ancient hunting spots of the Bushmen.

Absorb the incredible landscape around you and Wolwedans' commitment to care for guest and nature alike. Here in this land of stretching blue skies, endless plains and countless creatures enacting nature's savagely exciting passion play, you will find beauty feeding your soul, tranquillity to clear your mind and space for your imagination to fly !

Optionally (depending on tours and season), you could join a day-safari with picnic lunch en-route, arriving back at the Lodge for sundowners and another superb dinner.

DAY 4

DESTINATION: NamibRand Nature Reserve/Windhoek

Programme : Awake in the pristine desert dawn and soak in the atmosphere and landscape from your bed whilst enjoying early morning tea. After breakfast at leisure you are transferred to the airstrip to bid Wolwedans farewell and commence your return flight to Windhoek (Eros)/Swakopmund where you will arrive at 12h00/13h00 respectively.

EXTENSIONS: Hot-Air Ballooning / Scenic Flights

Transfer before sunrise to the balloon launch site. Rise into the air as you watch the dawn break and drift over never-ending plains and dunes in a hot-air balloon, in silent splendor (interspersed with the bursts from the powerful burner). An excellent champagne breakfast will be served at the landing site following your descent. Return to the Lodge afterwards, in time to meet your onward flight if on the day of your departure.

A light aircraft is permanently stationed at Wolwedans to offer you a choice of scenic flights - fly over the famous Sossusvlei dunes, or fly west to the coast, see Sandwich Harbour and fly over the old Diamond Camp and along part of the Skeleton Coast. Along this treacherous shoreline, you will see a number of Namibia's historical shipwrecks, thousands of seals at rest or play in the water and possibly also the myriad pink Flamingoes that nest and feed in the quieter waters, before turning back to complete this superb excursion.

SERVICE:    Included: Air taxi from Windhoek(Eros)/Sossusvlei to Sossusvlei Wilderness Lodge and from Wolwedans back to Windhoek/Swakopmund. Accommodation and full board at Wolwedans and Wilderness, transfers to/from airfields, Sossusvlei excursion, road transfer from Wilderness to Wolwedans, afternoon activity at Wilderness, scenic nature drives on the NamibRand Nature Reserve, emergency evacuation cover, taxes and park fees.

Excluded: Canned and bottled beverages (bar), personal items, airport tax and extended activities

N.B. 1:             DuneHoppers can also commence and/or end at Swakopmund with altered departure and arrival times.

N.B. 2:             DuneHoppers are not based on exclusive charter and there might be other passengers travelling as well. The same accounts for scheduled inter-lodge road transfers.
