ITINERARY

DAY 1

DESTINATION: Windhoek /NamibRand Nature Reserve

Programme: Meet your pilot at Windhoek (Eros) and commence on a scenic flight along the Naukluft mountains to Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge, situated in the very north of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Board a short transfer to the Lodge and book into your luxurious villa before a light lunch and the early afternoon at leisure (e.g. at the swimming pool during the heat of the day). After coffee enjoy a guided scenic drive or a walk on NamibRand. The diversity of landscapes encountered on this excursion will be unforgettable and depending on season, sundowners might be in the field. Alternately, for the adventurous, go Quad Biking (ATV) on the plains and incredible dune landscape, with sundowners at the top of the dunes. Return to the Lodge for an incredible dinner, accompanied by a bottle of fine wine from the renowned Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge Cellar (own account).

DAY 2

DESTINATION: Sossusvlei/NamibRand Nature Reserve

Programme : Arise before dawn for coffee and croissants before your early departure to the towering dunes of Sossusvlei. Visit and climb the highest dunes in the world and enjoy a delicious brunch in the shade of the trees at the Vlei. At noon return for lunch at the Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge, possibly stopping off to see the incredible Sesriem Canyon on the way. Relax during the early afternoon at the pool or in the lounge with its well-stocked CD and book Library, before joining an afternoon drive on the property. In the evening enjoy sundowners on the patio while you watch the birds and animals that visit the waterhole. Finally, another superb dinner is served in surroundings that are incredibly luxurious, in contrast to the desert landscape surrounding you !

DAY 3

DESTINATION: NamibRand Nature Reserve

Programme : Awake and enjoy breakfast and the early morning at your leisure before checking out and boarding your shuttle for Wolwedans . Arrive at the beautiful Wolwedans Dunes Lodge before lunch and book into your beautiful chalet with its own private verandah and a breathtaking view of the dunes, plains and distant mountains. In the early afternoon have a siests during the midday heat then join everyone on the tea deck for coof/tea and fresh-baked cake. Join a later afternoon drive on the beautiful Reserve with sundowners at the top of a rust-red dune before returning to the Lodge to freshen up. Finally, join everyone for drinks at the lovely open bar, before rounding off a spectacular day with a three-course candlelight dinner under a blanket of 1 000 000 stars!

DAY 4

DESTINATION: NamibRand Nature Reserve

Programme : Awake in the pristine desert dawn and soak in the atmosphere and landscape from your bed whilst enjoying early morning tea or coffee. After a delicious breakfast, absorb the unique NamibRand Nature Reserve landscape during a morning and afternoon excursion by Landrover through the dunes, endless grassy plains and along mystical mountain formations. You could encounter large and small desert animals, learn about their unique habits and explore the ancient hunting spots of the Bushmen.

Revel in the incredible landscape around you and Wolwedans' commitment to care for guest and nature alike. Here in this land of stretching blue skies you will find beauty feeding your soul, tranquillity to clear your mind and space for your imagination to fly !

Optionally (depending on tours and season), you could join a day-safari with picnic lunch en-route, arriving back at the Lodge for sundowners and another superb dinner.

DAY 5

DESTINATION: NamibRand Nature Reserve /Windhoek

Programme : Awake once again to marvel at the beauty of your surroundings whilst enjoying early morning tea. After breakfast at leisure you are transferred to the airstrip to bid Wolwedans farewell and commence your return flight to Windhoek (Eros)/Swakopmund where you will arrive at 10h15 am/13h45 pm respectively.

EXTENSIONS: Hot-Air Ballooning / Scenic Flights

Transfer before sunrise to the balloon launch site. Rise into the air as you watch the dawn break and drift over never-ending plains and dunes in a hot-air balloon, in silent splendor (interspersed with the bursts from the powerful burner). An excellent champagne breakfast will be served at the landing site following your descent. Return to the Lodge afterwards, in time to meet your onward flight if on the day of your departure.

A light aircraft is regularly stationed at Wolwedans to offer you a choice of scenic flights - fly over the famous Sossusvlei dunes, or fly west to the coast, see Sandwich Harbour and fly over the old Diamond Camp and along part of the Skeleton Coast. Along this treacherous shoreline, you will see a number of Namibia's historical shipwrecks, thousands of seals at rest or play in the water and possibly also the myriad pink Flamingoes that nest and feed in the quieter waters, before turning back to complete this superb excursion.
